Former South African star batsman, AB de Villiers has indicated that he is willing to be involved in a consultancy role with Official CSA in the future.
Newly appointed CEO, Thabang Moroe, in his first press conference, said he spoke to AB a couple of days after he announced his shock retirement, and asked AB whether he would be willing to take on a consultancy role with CSA.
He told reporters that “he indicated that it is something he’ll be keen on but obviously we need to talk about the scale”.
Moroe understands the complexities of becoming involved with the development, especially as AB retired wanting to spend more time with his family, and realises that if he were to get involved now, he might wind up spending more time away than when he was playing for the national team.
“So we’re just need to sit and agree on how and when we’re going to do it and the details around it. But it is something that he has indicated that he would be keen to do.” Moroe said.
I think this is wonderful news.
I recently posted a tweet saying how good it would be for South Africa to have AB as batting coach. With all of his experience and knowledge, it would be a shame to not make use of it. So I am really excited at this prospect.
